What music or artists inspired you?
An amalgam of lifelong influences! When we started it was Radio Birdman, Johnny Cash, The Pistols, Hunters and Collectors, Willie Nelson, Midnight Oil, Wall of Voodoo, Gang of Four, Django Reinhardt, The Beatles, Smacka Fitzgibbon, The Breeders, Split Enz, Pixies, and local favourites Cow.

In recent years we’ve been into JSBXL, Black Francis (Bluefinger), Heavy Trash, The Pixies (Indie Cindy), Band of Skulls, The Back Keys and Atomic Swing.

How did the band get started?
LEX is the distillation of former Brisbane suburban super group ‘Lex Rüsten’. Originally a five piece, time and tide, marriage, travel and mortgages meant that maintaining such a behemoth was impossible. But the spirit of rock burns deep and faced with more and more questions from fans about when LEX is getting back together.

An inner urban musical men’s mental health clinic was established and LEX emerged blinking into the daylight. Intermittent jamming over the last 12 months has produced a slew of songs that need to be performed and recorded.

How would you best describe your live show:
Lex Live is a straight up three piece rock’n’roll band that likes to tell stories and reflect on our times. Our Vision’s Gallery gigs roll for a couple of hours through a variety influences. The Zoo gigs are short and sharp with new material boxing with the right for airplay over older songs, to escape, to fill the room.

What shows do you have coming up?
The Zoo, Brisbane July the 25th 2015.
Opening the evening at 8:30 for ‘Pyre and Ice’ and ‘Headshow’

Keep an eye on Facebook for more dates.

Tell us about your latest release:
The 5-track EP entitled Cactii is a 5-track EP which is our first release for the band in its current incarnation. The official launch of the EP will be held at The Zoo on Saturday 25th July.
