Stumbled Upon #053 – Mommy Long Legs (Seattle, USA)

In our 53rd instalment of “Stumbled Upon”, we stay in Seattle to meet self-described ‘barf-core/fart-core’ rockers (and all round legends) Mommy Long Legs, and chat about their latest release Life Rips.

Band Name:
Mommy Long Legs

Website / Social Media:
Facebook / Bandcamp

Genre:
Rock

Members & their roles:
Lilly – Guitar/Vocals
Melissa – Guitar/vocals
Leah – Bass/vocals
Cory – drums

What music or artists inspired you?
The Cramps, The B52’s, Thee Oh Sees, Shannon and the Clams, Bratmobile, Daisies (the movie), Xanadu (the movie) and Flubber (the movie) and Nom Nom the goblin butler.

How did the band get started?
Lilly and Cory were in a band together before called The Webs. The Webs are not together anymore but Lilly and Cory wanted to start jammin’ once again. Melissa and Leah had been talking about making music with Lilly so we all thought, “hot dangles, let’s jam together and be a hott band.”

How would you best describe your live show:
Red lips, fashion pow, runway, little surprise, lubed mic, clurb sound.

What shows do you have coming up?
We have quite a few shows coming up. We’re playing the Rock and Roll Marathon with Mudhoney on June 13th, no joke!
Keep an eye on Facebook for more dates.

Tell us about your latest release:
Life Rips, you know rockin’ and rollin’ free ballin’ whale callin’ da kraken’ and we’re calling you back!

Where can I get your music?
Bandcamp! You can get downloads or tapes
