Single of the Day: Jerkcurb “Night on Earth” (2016)

Dreamy South London strummer Jacob Read, better known as Jerkcurb, has a strange ability to make gloomy, sullen rock sound grand and somewhat hopeful; there’s no exception to that on latest single “Night on Earth”, a fragile song of love and death. It sounds like Read’s woozy, submerged vocals are drifting in some kind of fever dream, but the very human lyrics are grounding, making this one of the more emotionally engaging offerings from the singer-songwriter to date.
