BIRDZ is an artist who can’t be getting enough positive attention and praise right now’ off the back of an outstanding appearance at BIGSOUND earlier this month, the Bad Apples Music artist has been making waves throughout the hip hop community this year for forward thinking and earnest lyricism, not to mention a bold approach to bringing to light the ever present issues that face him and his community.
New single “Black Lives Matter” is the latest example of BIRDZ’s ability to wrap a masterful delivery around the oppression of our Indigenous community, particularly recent deaths in custody, the closure of communities with no real positive alternatives. The song speaks for itself and as the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement has gained more of a prominent platform and presence within Australia, it has been released at the perfect time.
