One of our favourite Adelaide bands – Sincerely, Grizzly – are soon to be leaving the City of Churches for the exotic tropics of South East Asia soon, dropping their first tour dates for 2017 this week. Fans at home have seen the band make their first steps out on to stages with new music over the last few months, but this trip is a defining moment for the group heading forward.
Debuting their new line up in a new territory is an exciting prospect, as is the idea of new music, spurred on from the eccentric ideas bouncing around in Joshua Calligeros‘ head.
“For the last ten years I’ve been writing a story in my head about a man revered for having designed the greatest house in the world but who cannot help but feel like it is missing something.” he wrote in the band’s newsletter. “A man who, the instant before behind killed in a hit and run, has an out of body experience induced by the natural release of DMT in her pineal gland and who, as a result, remains stuck in purgatory and Higgins; a man who runs a regularly upholstery business by day, only to reupholster the fabric reality of night.”
“This is the story that is going to make up the words to our next album but in order to to do the music the way it sounds in my head, we needed help. We’ve now found that help in our friend Alex Ciaravolo, who has joined us on bass.”
Pretty cool, huh.
If you’ve not become familiar with Sincerely, Grizzly through their excellent album Halves, listen to it in all its glory below.
