Remi announces national tour, new album, and releases new single with Sampa the Great

“For Good”, the name of the new track and upcoming Australian tour from Melbourne wunderkind emcee Remi, is the first single from the long awaited follow-up to the highly regarded raw x infinity project – an album which cemented his position as not just one of the brightest in Australia’s hip hop scene, but also an undeniable figure on the global platform. Last year’s mixtape Call It What You Want mixtape only furthered demand for the talented emcee, who will showcasing his new material on a five-date headline show around the country, in addition to his sets at this year’s Groovin’ The Moo.

Fellow emcee Sampa the Great, who had a stellar 2015 herself, is on the assist with “For Good”, providing a verse, backing vocals, and hook. After premiering the single on triple j tonight, Remi told host Linda Marigliano that Sampa “came in the 25th hour with a Superman cape on, recorded her verse, hook, and back-ups in under half-an-hour”, before adding that she was his “favourite rapper in the southern hemisphere”.

Remi describes the new album, which is titled Demons and Divas, as more “introspective” than raw x infinity, adding that it deals with mostly himself and “relationship stuff”.

“I was going through a break-up and thought it was important to get this stuff out on music, especially as a vocalist”, said Remi. “It’s very much a diary…a timeline in your life and you’ve gotta get this shit out”.
