Day two at The Great Escape delivered another whirlwind of venue hopping, seaside chills and seriously impressive performances, with the weather still refusing to believe summer is around the corner. Thankfully, Brighton’s venues were doing their best to keep everyone warm.
One of the annual highlights of the festival is always the Australian showcase at Komedia, and this year was no exception. Honestly, you could have spent the entire day there and left happy. We caught sets from Pamela. and Big Wett, both bringing plenty of personality and chaos in the best possible ways, proving once again why the Aussie contingent continues to make such a strong impact at the festival each year.

From there, it was down to Inn On The Square for a taste of the Alternative Escape. Karin Park delivered a set that made you feel like you’d stumbled into a late-night Berlin club rather than a Brighton pub venue in the middle of the afternoon. Her blend of electronic pop, house, synthwave and UK garage had the crowd moving early, locking everyone into her hypnotic energy from the outset.
Back by the beach, Haute & Freddy were an absolute fun machine, bringing infectious energy to the seaside stages before Julia Cumming stepped out for a solo set that showcased her stunning vocals and magnetic stage presence.

The evening wrapped up with Lottery Winners, who somehow manage to combine being one of the nicest bands around with writing huge, feel-good indie anthems. It was the perfect way to close out another packed day at the festival — and a very welcome way to warm up before heading back out into Brighton’s freezing night air.
