Photo Gallery: The glitz and glamour of the 2022 ARIA Red Carpet

After a physical hiatus of the ARIA awards due to COVID restrictions, the music community was ready to head out and party in style for the 2022 awards at the Horden Pavilion.

There was plenty of glitz and glamour with frocks galore, even on many of the boys. MC for the evening, Christian Wilkins was especially stunning in a bespoke outfit. Also hosting was eight-time ARIA winner, Natalie Imbruglia, G Flip and ARIA Award winner Ruel.

It was not all high-brow though. Triple J morning presenters, Hobba and Hing blended into the red carpet, literally wearing strips of red carpet. Flume also caused a bit of a stir when he arrived with a dozen celebrity mannequins and a giant turd.

The big winner of the evening was Baker Boy with five awards including Album of the Year presented by Neumann, Best Hip Hop/Rap Release and Best Solo Artist.

Amyl and the Sniffers won two awards, for Best Group and Best Rock Album. The Wiggles also were awarded twice, with Best Children’s Album and Best Australian Live Act presented by Heaps Normal.

Performances on the night from Amyl and the Sniffers, Flume, Baker Boy, RÜFÜS DU SOL and more are available to watch on Youtube.

Also honoured in the ARIA Hall of Fame were musicians that we lost over the last twelve months: Olivia Newton-John, Uncle Archie Roach and Judith Durham. ARIA Award-winner Budjerah, Thelma Plum and Jess Mauboy joined together on stage to perform “One Song” in memory of beloved Gunditjmara and Bundjalung elder and singer, Archie Roach. Casey Donovan and Dami Im each performed a solo to commemorate the career of former singer of The Seekers, Judith Durham, with “I’ll Never Find Another You” and “The Carnival Is Over.

The evening closed with a melody of Olivia Newton-John songs by KYE, Peking Duck and Tones and I.
