The annual AmericanaFest has become a mammoth event on the US music calendar, with a wide range of artists hitting Nashville for a SXSW-style celebration of everything Americana, country and all else that draws itself under the banner. Out in Nashville with his new album GLASSELLLAND, Jordie Lane immersed himself in AmericanaFest for the first time in a little minute and below, he takes us through the experience.

AmericanaFest has turned into the holy grail of Americana musical festivals. It’s held annually in Nashville, Tennessee, and this was the first time we’d been back since our first trip in 2012 and boy had it grown, but in all the best ways! So many great artists we adore, all in town performing and hanging out, all in the name of banding together to celebrate music that is real and raw, soulful and sincere. We were honoured to be part of it, and really excited to catch up with the huge Aussie contingent that had made the pilgrimage to be there too!
The Americana Festival started early for us with a party our friend threw in East Nashville to celebrate the release of our new album, GLASSELLLAND. It was a grand ol time. The Stray Birds from Pennsylvania, Garrison Starr from LA and Lindi Ortega from Canada were all there, plus it was so great to catch up with Aussies, Suzannah Espie, Davey Craddock, Tobias Hengeveld, and Ruby Boots.
Pre-show snack at Taco Mamacita…
Free Food is great at parties, but the free BBQ Brisket sandwiches at the New West Records party was a special moment.
A very fortuitous meet with the one and only, T-Bone Burnett.
My favourite gig I saw at Americana, our very own, C.W. Stoneking ripping Nashville a new one at the MGM Party.
Getting my shades back on after a meeting at The Orbison Building.
Criminal behaviour: wearing no sunscreen, having pasty skin and using a selfie-stick to take the picture. I’m gonna get put away for a long time.
The end of our set at The 5 Spot for the Aussie BBQ with The Stray Birds and Rose Cousins in our band; such a fun gig.
Arriving back in Australia scratching my head wondering, “If this is just me and my stuff, are we gonna fit the whole new band and their stuff too in a hatchback for the Australian Tour?”
