Laneway is back and has just unleashed its highly anticipated line-up for the 19th edition of this Trans-Tasman touring mega-festival. The multi-stage is set, and it’s nothing short of impressive, coupling both established icons and rising stars.
The power of this year’s line-up is in the inclusion of a substantial number of artists (almost a third of the performances) who will be making their Australian debut appearances. It’s a testament to Laneway’s commitment to introducing new, on-trend sounds to the Australian music scene.
UK grime fans are treated this year to a slice of rap royalty, with Stormzy making his first Australian appearance in seven years. The pre-announcement rumblings were correct, and Raye is firmly centred on the lineup, with Dominic Fike and Steve Lacy joining the exclusivity club, gracing Laneway stages in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.
Thrown into the mix is a healthy dose of reflective indie sounds, with Faye Webster and Angie McMahon sure to get the tears flowing. A standout addition is North Carolina newcomer Hemlocke Springs, who’s 2022 song “Girlfriend” exploded into virality on TikTok.
