We’ve added another ten tracks to our Discovery Playlist on Spotify and Apple Music. This week Lime Cordiale are our Track of the Week with their new single “Melodramatic Fanatic” featuring Ruel.
It’s fair to say that the combination of Lime Cordiale and Ruel on a track together is tantalising. “Melodramatic Fanatic” has that feel-good sound we love from the boys from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Guitars that sing with joy like the birds in spring, paired with the silky smooth vocals of the megastar Ruel, “Melodramatic Fanatic” is feel-good and inspirational. When you hear this one, you’ll be wondering why they haven’t collaborated before. Lime Cordiale have an orchestral tour lined up later in the year, and are currently on an extensive regional tour. Busy lads indeed.
“Worth My Time” is the latest single from singer-songwriter Tyne-James Organ and his forthcoming new LP The Other Side – out May 16th via Dew Process. Produced by ARIA award-winning Chris Collins, the single explores the ebbs and flows of relationships and the connections in our lives that test us. Musically, it’s a little bit different from the rest of Organ’s catalogue, with producer Collins dropping in a disco-style drum loop. It’s a vibe – full of energy, sparkle and stellar guitar riffs. Organ will be showcasing the new album on the road around the country in May and June. For more information and tickets head HERE.
Naarm’s indie/alt-punk dogworld, have released “inmypocket”, a tantalising mix of sweet melodies and angular guitars. It’s a beguiling mix of pop-punk industrial repetition bathed in tenderness. The band has had a busy nine months since dropping their debut EP. They’ve toured non-stop and supported the likes of Armlock, Juice Webster, A. Swayze and The Ghosts, Hachiku, Phantastic Ferniture, Shady Nasty, dust, Garage Sale and more. dogworld have another tour lined up in May – catch them now whilst you can in such intimate venues.
This week American singer-songwriter Briston Maroney announced the release of his new album Jimmy – out May 2nd via Atlantic Records. The album is influenced by Maroney reminiscing on the lives that surrounded his divorced-home childhood. To accompany the announcement Maroney released two new tracks “Tomatoes” and “Bullshit”, it’s the latter we’re featuring here. “Bullshit” is billed as encapsulating all of the conflict in the album, and the conflict between the two worlds he straddled between growing up. It’s quietly compelling, largely just Maroney and a strummed guitar, with the focus landing squarely on Maroney’s introspective lyricism.
“Heart Like A House” is the new single from award-winning Melbourne-based New Zealand artist Jenny Mitchell. A sublime slice of folk, “Heart Like A House” is the latest single to be released from Mitchell’s new album Forest House, which is scheduled for release on May 16th. The track is intimate and emotive, and yet equally rich in its instrumentation – there’s some gorgeous horns towards the latter half of the track that just elevate it even further. Though it’s Mitchell’s beautiful vocal that takes centre stage. From what we’ve heard so far Forest House promises to be something special.
Also added to the playlist this week is “I Agree”, the latest single from singer-songwriter Jessie Monk; and “Endless Tree”, the latest single from the always excellent Valerie June. “Jetplane” is from London’s multi-disciplinary London group Sorry and “When” is via New York’s Slow Fiction. Finally, we’ve added “You and I”, from Alice Phoebe Lou, who delighted audiences in Australia in March last year.
