Music Video of the Day: Vinne LaDuce “Girl” (2016)

Dark, glitchy, oddly hypnotic… the latest from Vinnie LaDuce is all this in a nutshell. The music video for “Girl” sees the artist donning Writer, Director and Actor caps as he immerses himself in the character of ‘Jimmy Jeans’ – an individual who, well, hasn’t been having the best of days, it has to be said.

Of his character, “Jimmy Jeans is an ex-roadie who has been down on his luck for a few years in a row. He’s not bitter. He’s calmly going through the motions with a steadfast belief that things are gonna turn around soon. He can feel it. But when one can’t afford to consult a qualified doctor because one needs some booze money, one has to look at other options…”

The booze is real. The razors are real. The stitches and cuts are most definitely real. It all adds to this sharp and metallic sound “Girl” lands with, an insight into what we can be expecting from LaDuce as 2016 sees him release his album Biscuits. There’s a bubbling potential here, just waiting for the spark to completely take off and “Girl” is a great example of what’s still to come from this promising writer and musician.
