Sufjan Steven‘s last album Carrie & Lowell received a tonne of critical acclaim in 2015, we even listed it in the top albums of the year. This year, Sufjan Stevens is back with a mixtape The Greatest Gift, featuring outtakes, remixes and demos from Carrie & Lowell including four unreleased tracks. This new mixtape makes for an interesting companion to the original album, and new demos and remixes show the original tracks in a new light.
From the mixtape comes the single of the same name “The Greatest Gift”, with a video animated and directed by the man himself. Although a short track at only 1:53 minutes, the animation is bright and multifaceted; it begs several re-watches to see all the details.
