Music Video of the Day: Black Summer ft. Chloe Campbell “Sadness” (2018)

You’ll remember Black Summer from last year – the teenager took triple j Unearthed by storm with “Young Like Me” (currently sitting at a cute 3 million plus streams online) and soon became a name to be buzzed about. He’s not even 15 yet, but the producer (aka Rhys Toms) has come through with another strong track, this time entitled “Sadness”.

Linking up with Chloe Campbell on vocal, the tune is catchy from the jump and again, is exemplary of Black Summer’s thriving production skills. The music video, directed by Tim Maxx, is also striking. Filmed in LA, the team builds on atmosphere and an intriguing narrative that sees Black Summer and Campbell in a variety of gorgeously presented settings. Says Maxx, the clip revolves around the ideas of connection and missed perceptions.

“We shot the video while Chloe and I were both in LA…the story of the video is two people who are trying to connect but they can’t get to the same place at the same time. Like in the song, they’re in two different mindframes.”
