Midnight Oil and Paul Kelly added as headliners to the rescheduled Bluesfest lineup

Bluesfest

In what is great news for Bluesfest, Midnight Oil and Paul Kelly have been added to the lineup for the rescheduled event, in the October long weekend.

The festival will take place over four days at Byron Bay, from 1st to 4th October. Midnight Oil will headline the opening night, Friday 1st October. Paul Kelly and Tash Sultana will co-headline Saturday 2nd October. Jimmy Barnes will be headlining on Sunday night (3rd October).

We were there in 2002 for the Midnight Oil performance, and it was electric. And anyone who has seen any of their recent gigs can attest to them still being at the top of their game.

This will be Paul Kelly’s eighth visit to Bluesfest. An ARIA hall-of-famer, he certainly needs no introduction. He always brings an incredible band with him and never fails to deliver a standout show.

In a statement today, festival organiser, Peter Noble said “This is so special for me to announce – a moment I have been waiting years to happen. MIDNIGHT OIL headlined Bluesfest in 2002, just before their extended hiatus. It has always been my ambition to once again present the ‘holy grail of Australian artists’ at Bluesfest and have approached them every year, redoubling my efforts since their reformation in 2017. And now, to have MIDNIGHT OIL headline our opening night and launch their new album – it’s a dream come true. “

All of the headliners will be performing full shows, of between 90 and 120 minutes.

Season tickets will go on-sale at 9am on Thursday 20th May via Moshtix

We can’t wait for October to roll around.
