Jordan Millar tells us what to expect from his Courtyard Sessions gig this Friday!

As we head into the third installment of this year’s Courtyard Sessions down at the Seymour Centre in Sydney, we steal some of Jordan Millar‘s time to find out more about what to be expecting from his set on Friday and what he’s currently working on. Having spent much of 2015 bringing his music to people around the country (a lot of it alongside fellow fave Jack Carty), Millar’s 2016 looks to be building upon that positive momentum, with studio time booked in to work on his new album.

How would you describe your sound?
I’d describe it as an acoustic-pop-folk-blues thing. Nothing you’ve never heard before, but a spin on it.

Who do you cite as inspiration?
Heaps of bands and artists that I think are awesome. Ray Lamontagne, Radiohead, Local Natives, John Mayer. Good songwriters with a pop bent. I love good songs.

If we were to listen to one song from you / your band, what should it be?

What can we expect from your set at the Courtyard Sessions?
It’s actually going to be a bit of a fun one, because I’m going to be test running some new material that I’ve been working on for the new album. I haven’t played a set for a month or two, so I’m pumped to doing it!

If you could program one Australian artist to be a part of an event like this, who would it be and why?
I’d put Jack Carty on so I could see my friend play his awesome songs for me in a really cool setting.

Fill us in on what you’re up to at the moment?
I put out “True Or Nothing” as a single last year in October so you should check that out if you can, but I’m about to go into the studio and work on the next album so I’m going to be off the radar for the next few months.

What were the highlights for you in 2015?
I did a massive tour in August and it was by far the greatest tour I’ve ever done. The best run of shows a musician could ask for. Great audience, great touring buddy, great vibe all round. There will be another one coming up later this year!

What do you have in store for 2016?
A brand new album coming out and a tour to follow. It’s going to be big one!
