Electronic duo Kinder have had an amazing 2018, and now they’re finishing it all off with an appearance at NYE in the Park in Sydney this coming Monday – right before flying off to Falls Festival. Ahead of the show, we looked back at the year past with the pair, as they reflected on their favourite moments of 2018, their favourite music of the year and give you some hot tips as to what makes the perfect New Years Eve.
What were you doing on your favourite ever NYE?
Briony: I would say my best New Years experience was In Byron Bay a few years ago. Ended up joining a enormous dance conga line that went around the campsite for what may have been several hours in the early hours of the morning … a bizarre and wild night!
Savannah: Partying with my best friend at Lost Paradise in 2015! It was so wild but we had the best time. I discovered a whole new world of music – techno! I loved it so much that I came home and made a tech house/techno mix and submitted it to Mountain Sounds Festival for a competition that year and we actually ended up winning it and playing the festival! Haha!
What three things make the perfect New Years Eve?
Being surrounded by your best mates and loved ones, good music and a few cold ones!
What can fans expect from your set at NYE IN THE PARK?
We will be singing our original songs live! Yay! Lots of dancing routines and we will be mixing our favourite heavy house tunes with some classics!
Who else are you excited to check out while you’re there? Will you get to stay around until midnight?
We really love all the acts on the line up! Would love to catch Cxloe! We think she’s amazing. Unfortunately we can’t stay till midnight. But we have a good reason – we’re leaving straight after our set to the airport to head to Falls Festival in Lorne to perform again. Woo!
What’s been your highlight as an artist in 2018?
Definitely releasing original music! It has been something we have wanted to do for such a long time and we finally got to the point of knowing our sound and the direction we wanted to go in. This year we released two singles ‘What You’re Like’ and ‘Something More’. We are so grateful by the support we received from people. It’s the best feeling getting music out there and we can’t wait to do more of it next year.
What are you most looking forward to in 2019?
Releasing brand new music! We have a tour coming up that we are SUPER excited for and doing our own headline shows. Can’t wait!
And hot tip on your favourite ALBUM and/or SONG in 2018?
Savannah: My fave album this year was “Sect” by Golden Features. BANGER!
But my favourite song was by an indie artist/singer songwriter called Sasha Sloan and her song “Normal”.
Briony: The exact same as Sav! Haha. Golden Features album and Sasha Sloan’s EPs. We have very similar taste.
