Mabel took out the 2020 Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist at just 24-years-old, beating out Charlie XCX, Mahalia, Freya Ridings and FKA Twigs. She’s collaborated with the likes of AJ Tracey, Clean Bandit and 24kGoldn, and her debut album High Expectations (2019) entered the UK Charts at number three.

So it’s pretty fitting that “Let Them Know“, the first taste of Mabel’s “new era”, embodies empowerment and unleashing full potential. And there’s definitely a similarity between its message and its production, penned and produced alongside heavyweights MNEK, RAYE and SG Lewis. It’s truly a force to be reckoned with.

In speaking of the song’s creation, Mabel said:

“If I was going to make something, you know, like a Madonna’s ‘Vogue’, but in 2021, what would that sound like? More just about a song that embodies being who you really are. […] I just wanted it to be fun.”

According to Mabel, the offering is the perfect sample of what’s to come in her larger body of work, as she continues her signature sound of upbeat dance tracks. In fact, she revealed that on a writing trip with her collaborators, the group always came back to the song, thanks to its boppy magnetism and infectious energy.
