Inaugural National Live Music Awards celebrate Australia’s best around the country!

Overnight, in every Australian capital city, live music was celebrated as part of the inaugural National Live Music Awards. The eight events took place at the same time around the country, with a diverse range of Australian artists being recognised for their efforts on stages at home and abroad.

NGAIIRE (pictured) was big winner at the Sydney gala event, winning three awards for NSW Voice of the Year, as well as National R&B/Soul Live Act of the Year and National Live Voice of the Year. Queenslanders and recent ARIA winners Violent Soho also took out awards in both state and national categories, winning QLD Live Act of the Year and National Hard Rock Live Act of the Year.

Melbourne trio Camp Cope won the inaugural Heatseeker Award, while a tie for NT Live Act of the Year came this year, with Tapestry and Apakatjah sharing the title for 2016.

Live performances were also a huge part of the award ceremonies across the country, with live sets courtesy of L-FRESH THE LIONAt The DakotaTotally UnicornDream RimmyNaomi Keyte and more taking to the stage.

The first People’s Choice Award for Live Act of the Year was awarded to Ball Park Music, while the People’s Choice Award for Live Voice of the Year was taken home by Josh Pyke.
