Following the announcement that Rolling Loud, the world’s largest new-wave hip hop festival, will be making its Australian debut in 2019, the one-day event has unveiled the first wave of big names that’ll be taking to the Sydney Showgrounds for the event. Set for 27th January, over the same weekend once dominated by Big Day Out, the mega-festival will bring in energetic headliner Future as well as the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Tyga, Smokepurpp, and beloved local emcee Manu Crook.
Seeing as the previous iterations of the Rolling Loud-branded festival, in L.A and San Fran, has played host to show-stopping performances from Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, and Cardi B, we’re expecting some pretty big things once the full line up is out.
Sydney fans will be excited to see Future on the bill, seeing as the rapper unfortunately had to cancel his most recent Australian tour (for 2017’s Listen Out) halfway through due to the death of a close friend, leaving Brisbane and Sydney to miss out on seeing the dominant Atlanta artist. He’ll be in good company; especially with young rappers like “emo-rap” hero Lil’ Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti, who didn’t end up making the trip down under earlier this year.
“We started Rolling Loud to give hip hop fans across the world easier access to the biggest names in the game”, said festival founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif. “Being able to bring this calibre of artist to Australia to perform exclusively at our first show is amazing”.
