Australian art-rock outfit The Golden Gaytimes have dropped their brand-new video for “They don’t make ’em like me anymore,” the latest single lifted from their receently released album BUNG IT ON!. The clip — equal parts gritty, glam and full-throttle — captures the band’s signature chaos, swagger and off-kilter charm.
Frontperson Jane-O describes the track as a tongue-in-cheek ode to “the irrational, and often irresistible, allure of car obsession,” and the video delivers that energy with fuel-injected visuals that match the track’s “ramalama groove”. The clip was directed by Benson Au and edited by Matthew Walker.
It’s a wild ride — raw guitars, sleazy grooves, and all the post-punk mischief you’d expect from a band that loves to push boundaries. If you’ve ever wanted your rock to hit like a midnight drive — this one’s for you.
Formed in the late 2010s, The Golden Gaytimes have carved out a reputation as one of Australia’s most joyfully anarchic live acts — blending glam-charged punk, high-camp theatrics and sharp new-wave instincts into something utterly their own. Their shows have become word-of-mouth events: sweaty, unhinged, irresistibly fun, and always on the brink of glorious collapse.
They have a couple of live shows coming up – on Saturday the 13th December in Brookvale, and on the 21st December in Maitland. Get along if you can and support live music.
Watch the video below — and prepare yourself. They really don’t make ’em like this anymore.
