Exclusive Video Premiere: Darcy Piltz “Wishing Your Life Away” (2025)

Darcy Piltz

Last week, Central Coast artist Darcy Piltz released his latest single “Wishing Your Life Away”, a heartfelt blend of grunge, pop-punk and coming-of-age reflection. It now comes with a brilliantly DIY visual to match, and we’re thrilled to be premiering the video ahead of its general release on Friday.

The track, mixed and produced by Toby Wells at Sonora Studios and mastered by Jack Nigro (Rum Jungle, Vacations, The Terry’s), captures Darcy’s knack for pairing uplifting, emotional lyricism with crunchy guitars and anthemic hooks. But it’s the video that really showcases his all-in creative spirit.

Filmed and edited entirely by Darcy himself — using security cameras set up around his house — the clip perfectly mirrors the song’s message about independence, growth and finding your place in the chaos.

“I wanted to create something that really captured the true independence of my music. From writing and recording the music to filming and editing the clip, I think being able to execute the vision I have for the track is really special, ” Darcy says.

I had seen a few similar music videos that I thought were extremely creative, and, having a very limited budget (like none at all), I thought using the security cameras was clever! It’s also a nod to my younger self, who would upload one-man band covers to YouTube where I played all the instruments. Super stoked with the finished product, and apologies to my neighbours for drumming in the street!”

Playful yet sincere, “Wishing Your Life Away” is a reminder to slow down, stay present and enjoy the ride — even when it’s messy. Watch the official video premiere below, exclusively on the AU review.
