When bad news strikes you down, you lean on what you know. When talented singer/songwriter Taylor Piggott learned that his mother was stricken with cancer, he penned the moving “Heaven’s Not Ready for You”, in order to help her keep her spirits high. We are touched and honoured to be able to premiere this beautiful tribute ahead of its release on Monday.
“Heaven’s Not Ready for You” is indie-folk that delivers its message with clarity and tenderness. Written for his mother, there is no doubt that many others affected by news such as this will find solace here. His acoustic guitar, warm vocals and beautiful, vulnerable lyrics are a potent gift.
About the track, Taylor told the AU: “I wrote this song for my Mum the day I learned of her cancer diagnosis, hoping to keep her spirits high through her treatments. As my first release in three years, this track is incredibly special and personal to me. Mum has always been my biggest supporter in music, and this song became a way to give back to her & also connect with many others going through something similar. In 2024, I was able to take this track on a busking tour across Europe and played my first Sofar Sounds gig in London.”
Taylor has had a busy past few years. He played Sofar Sounds in London, and has supported Tones & I and Conrad Sewell. He also made it through to the the last four chair-turn of his season on The Voice Australia, where Keith Urban called him a “one-in-a-million voice.” Heady praise, indeed.
“Heaven’s Not Ready For You” will be available on all online streaming services from 14th April. It’s his first release in a wee while, and we’d love to hear more from Taylor, so be sure to pre-save it HERE.
