Newcastle’s alt-rockers Slow Cinema have been rapidly making new fans since the release of their debut song, ‘Howlin'” in March of 2021. We’re thrilled today to be premiering their latest track, “Balta” ahead of its release tomorrow.
“Balta” is infused with passion, angst, melancholy and introspection, as the protagonist aims to survive and possibly thrive. With fervent vocals, and guitars and bass that weave an emotive melody that builds to a massive chorus, “Balta” is an emotional journey.
About the track, the band says “Balta is an indie rock number exploring the nature of addiction, shortcomings and the ever-sinking process of becoming like your parents. The themes are explored through an aquatic lens, evoking imagery of sinking, drifting and the endless abyss of the ocean. Balta flicks from spacey, reverb-drenched guitars, intricate bass lines, and rollicking drumbeats to memorable, hard-hitting chorus’ – infused with otherworldly, harmonised vocals. Balta is epitomised by the line, ‘my regrets, I forgot em.’”
To celebrate the release of “Balta”, Slow Cinema have some shows organised for Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle. The details are below. Do catch them if you can, their live shows are renowned for being passionate and high-energy.
