Hailing from Canberra, but now calling Brisbane home, singer/songwriter Sam Wrangle has found his groove in the Australian indie scene. We are delighted to premiere the first taste of his upcoming fourth album, Guinness Soup, due this November, with the buoyant and joyful “Delicious Delights” ahead of its release on Tuesday.
Sam has a keen eye for the world around him and has cast a playful take on some of those who walk amongst us. Would-be Casanovas beware!
“The idea came from a pop producer who once described some women walking by as ‘delicious delights,’” says Wrangle. “It sparked the idea of a cheeky Casanova character wandering through Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, looking for fun. It’s a celebration and a slight criticism of that attitude, but ultimately it’s just meant to be fun, a lighter side of my writing.”
There are some fuzzy, earthy tones here, accompanied by a pounding bassline, ripping guitars, and smooth vocals. An integral component is the artistry in the synths that are interwoven throughout. The intensity builds as the track progresses, packing an emotional punch by the conclusion. This is gripping synth-pop, inspired by the charm of Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are.”.
“Delicious Delights” was written in collaboration with progressive rock musician Job Cran and produced by Sam Deehan of Leftmoon Studios. It was mixed by Liam “Snowy” Halliwell and mastered by Adam Dempsey.
