Today we’re proud to premiere the new single from Melbourne group Running Young – the track “We Are The Sons”, which is the title track of their debut EP, due out this April. The band features Joel Famularo (lead vocals/bass), Ben Williams (keys/vocals), Benjamin Cropper (guitar/vocals), Cassandra McCawley (guitar/vocals) and John Bellew (drums). With intricate four-part harmonies and a unique rock sound, this is a band to keep your eye on.
In the words of the band, “The song is about standing on the shoulders of those who came before us. It’s sort of about finding the balance between paying deference to our heroes from the past but not getting intimidated by their legacy to the point of paralysis. We live in an age where there has already been a “Muhammed Ali” or a “Bob Dylan” or a “Beatles” and it can be easy to look to those great icons from the past in their golden period and feel trapped in their shadow. But at the same time, you need to have a sense of history about whatever it is you are doing and having heroes has a great aspect to it as well.”
