Nick Carver & The Mean Street Butchers, a psychedelic blues and rock band from regional Victoria, are set to unveil their latest track “I Need To Feel”. We have the pleasure of premiering the track and its gripping music video prior to its release on Friday, July 28.
For Nick Carver & The Mean Street Butchers, their music is an intense fusion of raw energy and passionate storytelling. Their gritty rock anthems are characterised by classic foot-stomping rhythms, but what sets them apart is their skilful incorporation of genre-bending nuances of country and blues, which gives them their unique Nick Carver & The Mean Street Butchers sound.
Venturing into uncharted territory, “I Need To Feel” unveils a daring evolution for Nick Carver, breaking away from the familiar alt-country/blues sound that once defined him. In relation to the track, Nick says: “As far as sound goes, it’s a rock song. There’s very little of the alt-country/bluesy sound that’s on the previous releases. That’s not to say that stuff is over, but I’ve been working towards writing some real straight-up rock stuff that people can be expecting to hear with the next few releases.
In a whirlwind of energy, the “I Need To Feel” bursts forth with intense fuzz-driven guitar riffs, seamlessly blending with Carver’s husky vocals. Supported by the velvety tones of vocalist Trudie Potter, the song crescendos with explosive riffs, driving emotion and energy throughout.
The track’s music video, directed by Pete McKew, draws inspiration from early Aphex Twin works and Australian Thriller “Wake In Fright.” Using AI animation, it explores Outback Australia’s violent past, alien abduction, and mental illness, challenging perceptions of reality.
