Exclusive Single Premiere: Luke Howell “Stuck On You” (2020)

Following a two year journey across the world, Gold Coast musician Luke Howell has knuckled down and finally readied his debut single, “Stuck On You”. Coming from someone who has already put in plenty of work for the music industry, bouncing between separate deals across UMG, Warner and Sony Music in the USA, the R&B-inflected pop jam echoes a sure-footed confidence beyond what one would expect from a debut.

Though he first gained recognition back in 2012 as part of X Factor boyband What About Tonight, “Stuck On You” is our first real insight into Howell as a singer-songwriter. He produced it in collaboration with up-and-coming Gold Coast local Josh Beattie, settling on a particularly mellow soundscape after the track had been fine-tuned over time.

“To be able to finally put it into the world’s hands is such a major milestone in my life”, offered Howell, who came across the punchy bass line after recording about five other songs on the day “Stuck On You” was born. “It evolved into something magic, and we knew that we were on a good path.”

With an upcoming EP edging further into his soul-pop influences, Howell is in a good position to strike a similar chord as James Bay and Matt Corby before him. “Stuck On You” is certainly a good start with its ornate groove and deft, sure-footed melody: a showcase of things to come as the Queenslander carves his own path.

“It was such an inspiring time for me within my own music,” Howell describes the process of working on the new single. “It was my first initial transition into real artistry, actually being able to pick and play what I was hearing up in my head and translating that into the record you hear today.”

We’re proud to bring you the exclusive premiere of that vision. Hit play below to hear “Stuck On You.”
