We might be heading into winter in the southern hemisphere, but you can get some sweet, nostalgic summer vibes in “Honeycomb and Hurricane”, a track about to drop from Brisbane’s Katanak. We’re thrilled to be premiering his latest single ahead of its release on Friday.
“Honeycomb and Hurricane” is the first single to be released from the debut EP, for the talented singer/songwriter. “I’m drenched in sunshine and good times” he sings, buoyed by the electro-pop beats that keeps this feel-good tune humming along. With a melody that seeps under the skin in the first listen, warm laidback vocals and sparkling guitars, Katanak has knocked his latest single out of the park. This is a gorgeous meld of pop and indie-folk.
Fans of 5 Seconds of Summer, The Driver Era, and New Hope Club should find plenty to love here. Showing his versatility, Katanak produced the track himself. It was recorded at The Plutonium with Aria winner Aidan Hogg (G Flip, JaguarJonze, HopeD) who did the mixing.
Katanak is the moniker for Dylan Cattanach. Dylan was raised in a musical household, and along the way taught himself guitar, bass and drums. Amongst his many highlights to date, one with major kudos is that he played bass and performed as an extra in the 2023 Elvis movie, directed by Baz Luhrmann starring Tom Hanks. Major bragging rights there!
Last year Katanak performed at the FIFA Fan Festival, and also collaborated with the likes of QuanYeomans (Regurgitator) and PeteMurray. With more singles to come ahead of the release of his debut EP, the remainer of 2024 is looking rosy indeed for Katanak.
“Honeycomb and Hurricane” will be released this Friday. Be sure to pre-save it HERE.
