Exclusive Single Premiere: Hein Cooper “Pretend” (2021)

Hein Cooper

We are thrilled today to have the premiere of “Pretend”, from Sydney’s Hein Cooper. You might remember Hein from all the way back to 2016 when his single “Rusty” notched up more than 15 million Spotify streams.

After the massive success of his breakout singles, Hein toured the global promoting his debut album, The Art Of The Escape, and supported the likes of James Bay and Lukas Graham.

Roll forward a couple of years, and he found himself recording in Montreal with producer Jarryd Shuker. It was here that he met his wife, also an artist, and she features in the video for “Pretend”.

“Pretend” is a beautiful celebration of love. The multi-instrumentalist dazzles with his repertoire of skills, and that silky smooth voice is irresistible. Having his wife play her part in the video, really does send this to the next level.

Hein writes about the meaning of “Pretend” – “it’s all about escaping this world. I picture two lovers getting abducted by a spaceship and heading on a journey through their craziest dreams. It’s an out-of-world experience to who knows where.”

The video was directed by Sam Brumby.

It’s a mighty fine celebration of love, and the perfect way to end the week.
