Exclusive Album Premiere: Taryn La Fauci – Cycling (2017 LP)

For Sydney-based singer songwriter Taryn La Fauci – and no doubt, her fans – the release of her debut album Cycling has a been a highly anticipated one. With her debut EP UNVEIL being released to a positive reception back in 2014, La Fauci has been absolutely thriving as a live performer, locking down impressive live shows and leaving awestruck audiences in her wake.

Cycling continues to build on the strong and evocative themes UNVEIL first established, while demonstrating a matured and strengthened sense of songwriting; La Fauci once again wears her heart on her sleeve and invites her listeners in to be captivated and moved.

“Making albums or EPs are such a labour of hard work and love,” she admits. “There are so many ups and downs and plenty of doubts, so this release has given me a sense of what goes in to making such a big body of work and from there, I have learned lessons that I will take into future releases.”

Full of fleshed out indie-folk gems, Cycling sees La Fauci utterly at the helm, writing all 10 album tracks herself and playing all featured guitar parts. As she explains, being as present and involved as she was in the studio was an immersive, challenging and ultimately rewarding experience not to be taken for granted.

“Being able to have that experience of being there for each session and giving my direction as we crafted and built the songs together was really great. It was so important to me to be completely immersed in the whole process of making a record and it was the most rewarding.”

As La Fauci’s presence on the local circuit continues to grow and audiences continue to associate her with an intelligent, charming and wickedly talented musicianship, the release of Cycling is only going to be a propellant in building this hype. Definitely keep an eye out – the potential La Fauci possesses and has shown with Cycling is impressive and immense indeed.

“I believe it depicts an artist who has created a body of work that is intimate, personal and self-made.” she explains of the album. “I hope that my music will continue to evolve as I do and the representation of ‘now’ just means that at this snapshot in time, this is what I have been able to make.”
