Exclusive Album Premiere: STUMPS – Just Another Stay At Home Son (2018 EP)

For Sydney’s STUMPS, their journey to the release of this, their debut EP Just Another Stay At Home Son, has been one paved with strong singles and an even stronger live show.

Their name is still fresh in our mind off the back of 2017’s “Piggyback” single and over the course of five tracks, Just Another Stay At Home Son has presented to us an Australian band who have the sparks to become a much larger name right round the country as 2018 plays out.

The vibes of this EP are frenetic and rooted in great indie rock riffs and vocals. Vocalist Kyle Fisher demonstrates an intriguing versatility; much in the same vein as City Calm Down’s Jack Bourke, Fisher deftly swaps from playful vibrancy (“Well Do It Anyway”) to  darker and more evocative (“Toulouse”), his deep voice really given ample opportunity to shine.

Just Another Stay At Home Son could easily rocket to the top of Best Australian Releases lists by the time this year hits its halfway mark and with plenty of opportunities for people to see the band live in coming months, STUMPS aren’t planning on slowing down any time soon – we can’t wait.
