Goodness Gracious Graceless is the debut album from singer/songwriter Ryan Martin John and we are thrilled to have the first listen of it prior to the release on Friday. His songs straddle indie/rock, folk and country are imbued with vivid storyteling and blessed with golden vocals.
The album is richly varied. Replete with twangy guitars, introspective musings and outward celebrations, the album keeps the listener focused on what’s just around the corner. From the acceptance of getting old in “Concorde” to the ode to love in “I’ve Been Waiting” and the musing on cancel culture in “Goodness Gracious Graceless” the album is as thought provoking as it is charming. There is a delicacy to them, with nuances and a personal touch that gives the feeling that Ryan is sharing his stories directly with the listener.
An artist of many talents, Ryan recorded the album himself at Wizard Tone Studios in Adelaide. I’ve had Goodness Gracious Graceless on repeat for the last week, and keep finding new delights with each listen.
To celebrate the release of the album, Ryan will soon be touring South Australia and Victoria. The dates are below.
