Crowded House to perform two exclusive ‘encore’ shows at the Sydney Opera House this November

The 2016 ARIA Award Hall of Fame inductees, Crowded House, appeared on 60 Minutes tonight which prompted us (and no doubt many others) to wonder if a Hall of Fame appearance was the only little celebration the iconic Australian group would be sharing with fans this year.

Tonight, not only has a full deluxe re-issue of the band’s entire back catalogue been announced, but two special and exclusive shows will be performed by Crowded House in November at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, 20 years since their beloved ‘Farewell to the World’ concert on the landmark’s steps.

These Sydney shows will be the only ones Crowded House will be performing in 2016, falling on November 25th and November 26th. Of the two shows, the band is obviously excited to be able to mark the 20th anniversary of their farewell concert in such a special way.

“The shows will mark the 20th anniversary of our break-up concert.” Nick Seymour has said. “‘Proper order!’ I say, as being at the top of our game, I didn’t want to break up in the first place! I’ve come to realise ‘the top of our game’ is whenever we get together so please join us for a f*ck off sing song, an off-piste jam session, a toast to absent friends and NO RAIN.”

“We are thrilled all seven of our albums are about to be reissued in all formats including vinyl,” Neil Finn has added. “Each one accompanied by a rich trove of rarities including writing demos and other unreleased musical curiosities, as well as new original artwork from my dear friend Nick Seymour. This has been many years in the making with much of the exhaustive listening, editing and remixing being done by the keeper of knowledge Jeremy Ansell in Auckland. It has been a labour of love for us and our mission all along was making a superlative quality, definitive document of Crowded House’s unique history for all the fans who have given us their affection over the years.”

Supporting Crowded House at both shows will be Kirin J. Callinan.

Tickets are on sale to the general public from 10am, September 26th. Flight Centre’s recent partnership with Live Nation has now also seen the shows come with an exclusive travel package for these dates, with punters outside of Sydney and in New Zealand being offered the opportunity to gain easy access to the shows from 1pm, September 23rd. For more information, call 1300 552 816.

Of course, there is also a pre-sale session commencing for these shows too – keep an eye out if you’re a Telstra customer, as with Telstra Thanks pre-sale is kicking off from 10am, September 21st and continues until 10am, September 23rd. Get involved HERE.
