Bec Sandridge on In The Fog & developing her live show with a full band

Today is a very special day for one of our favourites, Bec Sandridge. With her In The Fog EP officially released today, Sandridge has also announced a stack of tour dates to celebrate the new record in the early months of 2017.

When Larry caught up with Bec in Sydney recently, she commented on her excitement surrounding the release of In The Fog after having had the songs ready to go for quite some time. Already looking ahead to the making of her debut album, Bec’s confident in the direction the next few months and the beginning of 2017 is taking her.

“I have probably a couple hundred voice memos just sitting on my iPhone, which is exciting.” she says. “I think it’s the most excited I’ve been about my new stuff, which is cool. I think this EP is just more of a definite Bec Sandridge fingerprint. This EP is more of a cemented sound.”

Fans have been able to see Bec on the road over recent months supporting the likes of Montaigne and Cub Sport, an opportunity to see one of Australia’s brightest talents continue to form and develop a killer live show. She comments on how the shows have treated her and how having a band behind her has informed recent tours.

“I don’t know if there’s less pressure,” she says. “I think it’s nice having a supporting sound. The guys in my band just bring out accents in the songs whereas, when I’m playing by myself, it’s like, “This is my guitar and this is how I made it in my bedroom”. There’s definitely not less pressure, I find it more difficult playing with a band. I think I challenge myself more when I’m playing with the band, which I really enjoy.”
