Set times have now officially been released for the second annual Australia House, taking place during SXSW in Austin, Texas.
For over ten years, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA has been to thank for bolstering the success of many globally recognised and adored Australian artists. This year sees SOUNDS AUSTRALIA celebrating their 10th anniversary (along with the AU Review!) as they return to Austin, Texas to bring attention to Australian artists and the music industry at SXSW (South by Southwest). SOUNDS AUSTRALIA will be presenting the world-renowned THE AUSSIE BBQ and SOUND GALLERY, as well as partnering on showcases with The AU Review & Hello Asia, BIGSOUND, Laneway Festival, and Secret Sounds.
Australia House (taking over Lucille on Rainey Street) is being presented by G’Day Australia for the second year, exhibiting Australia’s most exciting creatives, innovators, artists and taste makers from March 10 to March 15, with 55 Australian artists showcasing at the festival. Australia’s greatest cultural, entrepreneurial and tech exports will all be found under the one roof at Australia House, playing host to 65 unique performances.
If that’s not a good enough reason to find yourself going, there will also be free coffee all week at the festival courtesy of Bluestone Lane Coffee and a2 Milk. Still not worth it? Well, the festival will also be welcoming, for the first time, Luxury Escapes, one of the world’s fastest growing travelling websites. They will be offering one lucky attendee a coveted stay at ultra-luxury lodging One&Only Wolgan Valley, located in the stunning Blue Mountains, NSW Australia — a stay worth over $8,000!
SOUNDS AUSTRALIA has, over the years, been working with other music organisations such as Screen Queensland, Global Victoria and the VMDO to help provide artists with additional performance opportunities. Multifaceted events will be presented to showcase the latest in tech, music and film, with Queensland featuring Emerson Snowe, Gabriella Cohen, Geowulf, Golden Vessel and San Mei on Monday evening, whilst Victoria have sets from Amyl & The Sniffers (DJs), Angie McMahon, DRMNGNOW DJ, Mojo Juju, Oh Pep! and Two People on Tuesday.
On Tuesday night, The Melbourne Hub will also be presenting a late night film session and intimate in-conversation with Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, director of the groundbreaking documentary Her Sound Her Story, alongside Mojo Juju. Her Sound Her Story will be featuring more than 45 artists spanning six decades, and it will unveil the personal experiences, histories and significant social impacts of women in the Australian music industry.
Last but not least, celebrating their very own milestone of 30 years in the business, Nightlife Music returns to SXSW to enhance the audio and visual experience inside Australia House by featuring their award-winning crowdDJ® technology, playing the best in Australian music — and throughout THE AUSSIE BBQ, you’ll hear artists hand-picked by triple j Unearthed, while during the AU review event, you’ll hear music handchosen by us, looking back at the last ten years of amazing Aussie artists who have played at SXSW,
