Aussies at CMW: Spotlight on 2016 Showcase Artist, Rin McArdle!

Adelaide’s Rin McArdle find herself in Toronto this week for Canadian Music Week, the songwriter performing at the Indica Records showcase tonight! Get to know a bit more about Rin in our ‘Getting to Know You’ spotlight series…

Introduce yourself!

Hello, I’m Rin McArdle and I’m an musician from Adelaide in South Australia!

Have you played CMW before? If so, how many times?

No, this is my first time playing; I’m pretty excited!

What are you hoping will come out of this year’s event for you?

I hope I meet some cool people who like my music! I’m keen to play as much as I can while I’m here.

Why should CMW attendees come and see you?

I think we would have a nice time…

What is a track that you think best represents where you are right now and what audiences can expect from your sound and your set?

“Sirens”

What made you want to showcase at CMW?

I’ve always felt a really strong connection to Canadian music; I’ve been lucky enough to play with a pretty amazing group of Canadian artists back at home when they’ve toured Australia, so I’ve always felt drawn here.

Do you have any dream collaborations?

Yeah for sure, I’ll keep in the Canadian spirit and say Tim ChaissonElliot Maginot and Half Moon Run.

How much more international touring is on the cards for this year?

Hopefully a lot!

How do you think / hope the Canadian crowd will receive your music?

Hmm, well it’s hard for me to say, but a lot of my Canadian friends always say to me, “Rin, they will love you in Canada”. So we’ll see if they’re right!

What other Aussie act playing CMW would you recommend the rest of the world needs to see?

Timberwolf! He’s from Adelaide too and is killing it at the moment.

Please list your CMW showcases (to now) and give us a link where we can find your most up to date list!

I’m playing a one off show tonight in Toronto at Burdock to open up the Indica Records showcase at 8pm!
