Upcoming James Bond game gets official title, 007 First Light

James Bond is back. Well, in the video game sense at the very least. While we’re still waiting on a new Bond to helm the film franchise, developer IO Interactive has now given their upcoming James Bond game an official title: 007 First Light.

007 First Light was initially revealed back in 2020 as Project 007 with a small teaser trailer, but it’s been crickets since then.

We do know however, that the game will focus on an entirely new version of Bond, not based on any existing portrayal of the character, as a new origin story where he must acquire his 00 status, or license to kill, as it were.

IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak commented on the news, stating that 007 First Light will be “the start of a new trilogy” for Bond.

“What’s exciting about that project is that we actually got to do an original story, so it’s not a gamification of a movie. It’s completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future.”

007 First Light will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC and even the Nintendo Switch 2.

We will also be getting an official game reveal in some shape of form, by the end of this week, so stay tuned as we unpack the news when it drops.
