Ghost of Yōtei gets an official release date

Thanks to Grand Theft Auto VI, games releases and release dates have been a little up in the air recently. In fact, they’ve been so up in the air, that many upcoming titles are falling into place, launching either sooner or around GTA IV’s supposed release.

Sucker Punch and PlayStation have announced that the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Ghost of Yōtei will now officially launch on the 2nd of October, 2025.

The news broke in the form of a new trailer, which details The Onryō’s List, otherwise known as a list of targets that our new protagonist, Atsu, seeks to eliminate in the name of revenge.

It’s a really interesting time for these announcements, as Mafia: The Old Country opted for an earlier release date on the 8th of August 2025. While this game is being developed by Hangar 13, it’s being published by 2K Games, who have the same parent company as Rockstar Games, being Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.

This could mean that they want to pump out their surrounding titles first to make way for GTA VI. But at the time of writing, we are still awaiting another update from Rockstar Games.

I don’t mean to make it all about GTA VI though. No matter which way you cut it, it’s great to see the release train rolling, and if this will provide the necessary spark for other publishers and developers to start launching games within this window.
