Total War: Warhammer gets first proper gameplay trailer

The Creative Assembly have released the first gameplay trailer for Total War: Warhammer and fans of Games Workshop’s tabletop strategy game are going to be very pleased.

The trailer is a ten-and-a-half minute developer walkthrough of a campaign mission called The Battle of Black Fire Pass. Though the battle itself is scripted, it gives an up-close look at how the latest Total War title is progressing.

The Empire, led by Emperor Karl Franz, clashes head-on with a Greenskin horde led by Orc Warboss Grimgor Ironhide. Scale appears to be the operative word here, with the two huge armies smashing headlong into one another over and over. It looks to be an very loving approximation of the tabletop game and its easy to see why GW would find the Total War license such a good fit for the IP.

The Battle of Black Fire Pass was the demo shown to many journalists at E3 back in June. The developer walkthrough follows a cinematic “in-engine” trailer that released last week.

Total War: Warhammer is coming to PC later this year.
