Splatoon 2 is on the way to Nintendo Switch, here’s your first look

We knew from the moment we played the original Splatoon on the Wii U that it was destined to become Nintendo’s new megafranchise and the Big N is wasting no time getting that ball rolling, announcing Splatoon 2 at their Nintendo Switch live event today.

The team-shooter about squid children that blast each other with ink took the world by storm when it launched in 2015 and its sequel looks to give players more of what they loved — more levels, more weapons, more items, more fashion.

The game doesn’t currently have a release date beyond Summer 2017 (that’s winter for us here in Aus), but we’re just happy to know that it exists at all. We are, however, unable to decide if we’re miffed or relieved that Nintendo’s marketing team didn’t go with the title Splat2n.

The Nintendo Switch launches March 3.
