Rainbow Six Siege delayed into December

Bad news, strategic shooter fans. Ubisoft have announced that Rainbow Six Siege will not make its October 13 release date and will now arrive December 1 worldwide.

According to a post on Ubisoft’s official blog, the delay is designed to give the dev team the time they need to improve “the co-op experience across all game modes, weapon and gadget balancing, as well as menu and interface navigation.”

It should be noted, however, that the game’s planned beta is still going ahead starting September 24. The delay will allow the team to further test various network elements to ensure a smooth experience on launch and into the future.

Ubi says the decision to delay came from playtesting internally as well as feedback from gameplay sessions at E3 and Gamescom this year.

Ubisoft are, of course, no strangers to delaying titles they feel aren’t ready for prime time. Starting in 2013 the publisher delayed Watch Dogs at the last minute for further work. The Crew was also delayed around the same time. South Park: The Stick of Truth also copped a series of delays and Assassin’s Creed Unity was also pushed further into the year for more time in the oven. Earlier this year, Ubi announced they were pushing the release date of The Division into 2016.

Rainbow Six Siege is coming to PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
