December’s PlayStation Plus games are now live

December’s PlayStation Plus offering is as well-rounded as it is critically acclaimed; for the most part. Godfall: Challenger Edition stands as the PlayStation 5 entry for this month, while Lego DC Super Villains and Mortal Shell follow as forward compatible PlayStation 4 titles for those on next generation consoles. While it’s clear Godfall is looking to make a comeback after a lacklustre launch, variety is truly the name of the game this month.

Godfall: Challenger Edition (PS5/PS4)

It’s worth noting that Godfall’s original PS5 exclusivity backtracked down the line due to an underwhelming launch. The critically warm reception aside, Godfall: Challenger Edition brings with it a specific level of controversy, as it’s far from the complete experience. Godfall: Challenger Edition removes its narrative and additional expansions, instead opting to throw players directly into the endgame content with little context. It’s a strange move for such a service like PlayStation Plus to throw in “lite” versions of pre-existing titles, especially when titles like these need a second wind in the first place. Either way, it’s a good excuse to come to grips with the overall tone and gameplay mechanics that dictate most of the combat-heavy experience.

Lego DC Super Villains (PS4)

The Justice League have disappeared and it’s up to you and the ridiculously vast range of supervillains to take on the impostors left in their wake. Touted as one of the most underrated Lego games, Lego DC Super Villains provides junior and adult gamers alike with colourful open worlds to explore, unique structures to build and puzzles to solve!

Mortal Shell (PS4)

This brutal action-RPG admittedly draws its inspiration from the Souls series, but make no mistake – Mortal Shell holds its own. Track down hidden sanctums and defeat your enemies along the way as you must rely on your own wits, reflexes and skills as much as your arsenal. After all, a good worker never blames their tools.

Last month’s PS VR titles are still available to download as part of PS VR’s 5th anniversary, including The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners and Until You Fall.
