Overwatch Year of the Dog event begins next week

Overwatch‘s Lunar New Year event returns next week according to an announcement from the game’s official Twitter account. The seasonal event begins on February 9 in Australia.
In the Chinese zodiac, 2018 is the Year of the Dog and so a good expectation would be for this event to feature a custom game mode that references dogs in some way. 2017’s Year of the Rooster event featured a new mode called Capture the Rooster. A typically Overwatch variation on the classic Capture the Flag mode, Capture the Rooster saw teams vying to return a Rooster to a specific point on Lijiang Tower.

There’s no information as yet about whether that particular mode will be back for the 2018 event. What is more certain is that players will have the opportunity to scoop up any skins they missed in last year’s event for cheap.

Anyway, expect to see a lot more Mei in your life come February 9 and more information via Blizzard’s socials as we get closer to the date.
