For the second night in a row, Nintendo kept Aussies up till the early hours with a second packed direct full of announcements for new titles, expected titles, and so many ports of existing games coming to the Switch 2.
Metroid Ravenous
After the middling reaction to Metroid Prime 4, Samus is back in a new 2D adventure called Ravenous. It’s been long rumoured, but this is the first confirmed footage of the game. It launches in January 2027 alongside new amiibo and a Collector’s Edition. If the footage is any indication, Samus is really not messing around this time.
An avalanche of Switch 2 ports
Third-party support for Nintendo Switch 2 is looking significantly stronger than what the original Switch enjoyed at launch. The standouts include:
- Monster Hunter Wilds arrives December 4th, 2026, with all title updates included, local play support, and future content parity with other platforms.
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: Royal Edition is confirmed for 2027.
- Resident Evil remakes hit the console on October 16th in native, non-cloud versions, setting the stage for Resident Evil: Veronica in 2027.
- The Tomb Raider remake launches February 12th, 2027, day-and-date with other platforms.
- Persona 4 Remake was confirmed for Switch 2, though it arrives in May 2027, a few months after the February 18th launch on other systems. Persona 6 is also coming to the platform.
Free updates and DLC
Nintendo isn’t leaving its existing lineup behind. A free Star Fox update drops September 29th, adding four-player split-screen battle mode, three new battle maps, and online play for four people on a single console. Mario Kart World is also getting free DLC later today, details pending.
Pikmin 4 receives a Switch 2 upgrade on November 12th with a new challenge mode called Dandori Academy and microphone support. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 gets an upgrade pack and a new isometric challenge mode on December 3rd, alongside a new hero named Shimmer.
Hyrule Warriors and Final Fantasy
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition comes to Switch 2 on February 25th, 2027, running at a full 60fps with a harder difficulty option, all expansion pass content, and save data transfer from the original release.
Final Fantasy VII: Revelation also got another trailer showing off its Switch 2 version, launching day-and-date with other consoles. As a bonus, Crisis Core also arrives on the platform today.
First-parties and indies
- Star Fox Adventures lands on the Nintendo GameCube Classics service today.
- Professor Layton returns December 10th with the most puzzles ever featured in the series, plus some unusual multiplayer functionality.
- Stage Fright, from the makers of Overcooked, is a more structured coming-of-age adventure due in 2027.
- Cairn, the climbing sim, hits Switch 2 in 2027 with a demo available today.
- Meccha Chameleon, the viral indie hit, is out today on Switch.
- Onyx: The Dark Grip, a new Bloober Team title, is exclusive to Switch in handheld mode and uses the touchscreen to shift between realities. It’s due in 2027.
- Eternal Anima, another RPG, is also locked in for 2027.
- A new Yo-kai Watch is in development, though Level-5 cautioned it will “take some time.”
The new Kirby Air Riders amiibo line includes Noir Dedede, which appears to wrap Sakurai’s obligations to Nintendo… at least where plastic figurines are concerned.
Other Announcements
Pokemon Pokopia is getting sunglasses. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight lands next month. Switch Sports Resort revealed new Mii customisation options and is out October 22nd. A new Mega Man title launches in 2027 with Proto Man as a playable character.
