EA indicates Star Wars Battlefront 2 will debut in late 2017

Electronic Arts have indicated their intention to release a sequel to 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront in time for the holidays next year. The news comes as EA hosted its annual investor conference call earlier this week.

EA’s CFO Blake Jorgenson was asked by one analyst about when to expect a new entry in the Battlefront franchise, responding that it would be released around “a year from now.”

This announcement clarifies a release window stated by EA earlier this year when the publisher stated a sequel would materialise between April and December 2017. This new window would put Star Wars Battlefront 2 in a similar release window as Star Wars: Episode VIIImirroring the original game’s tie-in with The Force Awakens.

This will be the third Star Wars game the company are working on (that they have spoken about publicly at any rate). Visceral Games are hard at work developing a Star Wars third-person action adventure title, while Titanfall 2 dev Respawn Entertainment have a third-person actioner of their own on the go.
