E3 2016: Hideo Kojima’s new game with Norman Reedus is Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima appeared rather dramatically onstage during Sony’s E3 press conference to debut footage from his first game post-Konami. Death Stranding is currently in development at Kojima Productions and gives a rather cryptic glimpse at what’s to come.

In what might have been the most adorable moment of the night, Kojima appeared onstage to a flurry of fireworks, curtain raises, stage smoke and orchestral villain music before cheerfully waving to the audience and chirping “Hello, everyone! I’m back!”

He then set the clip up, beginning with a William Blake quote. The trailer features beach filled with dead fish and sea life, a naked Norman Reedus and a baby that is attached to Reedus with a weird mechanical umbilical.

Death Stranding doesn’t currently have a release date, though Kojima mentioned to Geoff Keighley on the YouTube E3 Gaming livestream that devleopment was moving “at a good pace.” He also took time to mention that it is a creative collaboration with designer Mark Cerny.
