BlizzCon 2016: Mean Streets of Gadgetzan is Hearthstone‘s new expansion

Blizzard have announced the next expansion for their online card game Hearthstone during the BlizzCon 2016 opening ceremony. Mean Streets of Gadgetzan will be Hearthstone‘s fourth expansion, and the third add-on released just this year following One Night in Karazhan and Whispers of the Old Gods.

The new expansion is themed around Gadgetzan, a desert city from World of Warcraft that has become a significant trade hub. New cards introduced in the set will bring some of the city’s shady underworld.

Gadgetzan is ruled over by three crime families — the Grimy Goons who bestow a new Hunter weapon called (get this) the Piranha Launcher (amazing) that will summon a 1/1 Piranha card with every attack move your hero makes. The Jate Lotus syndicate grants a Lotus Assassin card that will allow a rogue minion to regain stealth on a kill. Third, the Kabal grants spellcasters the Kabal Talonpriest, a priest with a battlecry that will buff a minion for three extra HP.

Tri-class cards are another new addition to the game. The Kabal are packing a set of mage, priest and warlock cards that can be played across any of those decks. Take the Kabal Courier for instance — a three-cost coard with a Battlecry that allows you to discover a mage, priest or warlock card.

Blizzard will have more during the Hearthstone panel at the show.
