Blizzard’s Overwatch now coming to PS4 and Xbox One, releases “Spring 2016”

In huge news for Blizzard fans, the developer’s team-shooter Overwatch will come to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in tandem with its release on PC.

The game is available to pre-order now on Battle.net and is called Overwatch: Origins Edition. According to the game’s page, it is slated for arrival next “spring” (which is autumn for us here in Aus, so between April and June), and before June 21, 2016.

What the name “Origins Edition” means isn’t entirely clear yet but our best guess is that Blizzard will have a specific character roster at launch that they will expand on as the game’s life cycle moves forward.

The announcement comes ahead of this weekend’s BlizzCon 2015 fan convention in LA (the full schedule for which can be found here in AEDT time). It also comes mere hours after Gearbox Software announced their competing game Battleborn would slip to a May 3, 2016 release date.

Overwatch is currently in a closed beta test on PC via Battle.net.
