Getting into stunt planes with Bluejuice: An adventure.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of joining Jake and Stav of Bluejuice as they took to the skies with the wonderful guys at Red Baron at Sydney’s Bankstown airport in their flagship Red Bull Stunt Plane. There are only two ways to describe it: exhilarating and nauseating. Both myself and Jake didn’t return to earth without leaving a treat in the sick bags, but it would be fair to say that the slight amount of pain was very much worth it. How often do you get to say you went upside down in an airplane!? Or sideways and 360 degrees and looping and whatever else it was that happened up there…

Here now is the video of Jake and Stav reaching new heights in their Red Bull Stunt Plane. As it so often is with the guys, it’s a pretty hilarious watch. You can see a photo of myself in the plane in the header of this article. Would I do it again? Maybe… It’s a once-in-a-lifetime sort of experience for most of us I think. But should you experience the thrill of it at least once in your lifetime. Well that goes without saying. An experience I’ll not soon forget.

Something else I’d like to mention was though the experience was rather nauseating by the end of it (I’d like to point out that I DID complete all the maneuvers, unlike somebody… *cough* Jake *cough*), it actually wasn’t as scary as I would have thought. Once you’re up there, it’s made clear to you that the pilot is very much in control of everything that’s happening in the skies – he has been doing it for around 20 years after all. The way he put it, and it’s an interesting sentiment, was that the joy he finds from it all is giving people the opportunity to experience flight, with the guest sitting at the front of the plane and seeing the world turning before their eyes.

There’s nothing quite like it. The only way to know how you’ll react to the experience is to try it yourself. Head to http://www.redbaron.com.au/ for more details and a HUGE thank you to Red Bull for having us on board… literally!

As mentioned in the video, Bluejuice were part of this adventure to promote the Red Bull Bedroom Jam. You can find out more about this initiative here: http://www.redbullbedroomjam.com.au/
